Packing is one of my favorite parts of planning a trip. I start thinking about the items I am going to pack months before a trip. In fact, I am already thinking about what I am going to pack on our honeymoon to Europe...in July. Here are our general tips for packing light. We will be featuring more specific packing tips for camping trips, weekend trips, ski trips and Europe in the future. 1.Pick a color scheme. It is much easier to mix and match outfits when all the clothing you pack fits into one color scheme. At first it feels limiting but once you are on the trip and see all the outfit possibilities, you will be glad you did it. 2. Know your go-to items. For me this means black skinny jeans, a simple black cotton dress, leggings, a black cardigan, a gray zip-up hoodie and solid color sweaters on most trips. I always start with these same items and then fill in with clothing more specific to the trip. 3. Take versatile pieces. Pack articles of clothing that can be both dressed up and down, and can be worn both day and night. This is where those black skinny jeans and black dress come in. 4. Don't pack two items when only one will suffice. Don't pack a brush and a comb when you can do with just a comb. Don't pack a pullover and a cardigan when you will only need one sweater. You don't need lipstick and gloss. Pick one.
