Bumpdate #9: 32 Weeks Baby is about the size of a squash! Last week was a pineapple. I like pineapple better. Total weight gain: About 19 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Maternity leggings, Sam's shirts and sweatshirts, a couple maternity shirts, long cardigans and about three regular tee shirts. I pretty much wear the same thing every day. Stretch marks: Palmer's Cocoa Butter and Honest Company Belly Balm. No stretch marks! Belly button: Definitely an outie now. Wedding ring: On Movement: Tons of movement, especially when I lie down to sleep. Baby is head down (yay!) so I have been feeling lots of kicks in my ribs recently. Sleep: Great. Getting out of the bed with this bump in the morning (and several times in the night) is the hardest part. Cravings: Apricots, peaches, pineapple, watermelon... Lots of summer fruits. I really wish I could buy fresh apricots this time of year. Last doctor appointment: We now have appointments every two weeks so we had one on Tuesday. Everything is looking great so the appointment only lasted about 10 minutes. Feeling: Great! We hiked in Arches and Canyonlands this weekend and I felt really good hiking. Baby is feeling a little heavier and hips are a little bit sore. Missing anything: Skiing, as always Best moments this month:

Bumpdate #8: 30 Weeks Baby is about the size of a cucumber! Total weight gain: About 19 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Regular shirts are a little too short now. I've started wearing my husband's shirts and sweatshirts and I finally ordered a couple maternity shirts and a dress. I'm pretty much wearing a tee shirt, leggings or skinny jeans, and a cardigan or open button down every day. It's become my pregnancy uniform. Pullover sweaters look way too bulky now. Stretch marks: Palmer's Cocoa Butter and Honest Company Belly Balm. No stretch marks! Belly button: I think it's an outie now. It's definitely not an innie. It feels like it's missing. Wedding ring: On Movement: The baby was moving so much the other night I hardly got any sleep! He/she is getting stronger every day and has started kicking other babies when I hold them (the kid has already made another baby cry because he/she kicked him when I was holding him!) and books when I rest them on my tummy. When I rest my hand on my bump the baby kicks it but when Sam rests his hands on the bump it calms the baby down. Sleep: Mostly great except for the one night of very little sleep due to kicking. We go to bed early and sleep a lot of every night. I'm soaking up all the sleep I can get right now. Cravings: Oreos and coffee ice cream. Last doctor appointment: We had an appointment with our midwife on Tuesday. Everything is looking great. I had my glucose screening test and everything is normal there. Feeling: A little more tired and more third trimester-y. Hips are occasionally sore. We are getting so excited to meet our baby! It's starting to feel more and more real. Missing anything: Skiing, as always Best moments this month:
Bumpdate #7: 26 Weeks Baby is about the size of a head of lettuce ! Total weight gain: 12 pounds
Maternity clothes: Regular pants with the bellaband still work. Maternity jeans and leggings. No need for maternity tops yet...regular sweaters and shirts still fit. Stretch marks: Palmer's Cocoa Butter and Honest Company Belly Balm. No stretch marks! Belly button: It's flat and looking more bizarre by the day. Wedding ring: On Movement: Tons of movement, especially when I am lying down or trying to fall asleep. Baby is getting stronger so we have moved beyond the feeling of popcorn and bubbles. Now movement feels like bulges and kicks. Sleep: Sleeping well. Getting up about once a night to go to the bathroom. Cravings: None. Last doctor appointment: We had an appointment with our awesome midwife on Tuesday. Healthy mama, healthy baby. In fact, I think she used the phrase "reproductive nirvana." She said to make sure I'm eating lots of protein as I can stand to gain some weight and it's important for baby's brain development. Feeling: Both amazed that we are almost to the 3rd trimester and realizing I hardly remember what it's like not to be pregnant. It feels both fast and slow at the same time. Hungry pretty much every hour of the day. Missing anything: Skiing. Best moments this week: 1. We are taking a hypnobirthing class and loving it! 2. Relaxing and enjoying our last months as a twosome. Bumpdate #6: 22 Weeks Baby is about the size of papaya! Weight Gain: 10 pounds
Maternity clothes: Jackets that fit last week no longer fit. Last night I wore my peacoat and I think it may have been its last day of buttoning all the way. Maternity leggings pretty much every day. Stretch marks: Belly balm is still working. Belly button: It's stretching wider. Still in "innie" but just barely. Wedding ring: On Movement: Baby is having dance parties every day. Lots of movement and Sam felt baby for the first time this week! Sleep: Sleeping pretty well although last night I woke up with TERRIBLE heartburn. It let me practice some pain management techniques that I will be using in labor, though. Cravings: Sushi, which unfortunately I can't eat while pregnant. Feeling: Excited and emotional. I ordered a newborn bundle with blanket, beanie and mittens and the mittens are so tiny and adorable that I teared up. Missing Anything: Sushi and skiing. Already planning on going out to get sushi on our first date after baby is born. Best moment this week: Ordering three swaddle blankets for baby, showing off the baby bump at Sam's holiday work party and feeling baby dance and wiggle every day. Last year on the first Saturday in December we headed up into the Uinta Mountains to hike Shingle Creek Trail. This year we decided to make it a tradition. On Saturday after we made a delicious brunch we set off for Shingle Creek. The sun was shining and the trees were sparkling with snow. We talked of how next year's traditional first-Saturday-in-December-Shingle-Creek-hike will include our sweet baby in an adorable puffy little snow outfit. After our hike we stopped by Samak Smokehouse for hot chocolate and caramels, ate way too much fried food at Redrock and went home to go to sleep early. It was the perfect way to spend a Saturday.
Bumpdate #5: 21 Weeks Baby is about the size of a pomegranate! Weight Gain: 9 pounds
Maternity clothes: My maternity jeans fit now but I can also still wear regular pants with the bellaband. Lots of big sweaters and maternity leggings these days. My jackets are starting to get tight but I think I still have a few more weeks of regular jackets! Stretch marks: No stretch marks. Lots of belly balm and lotion. Belly button: Transitioning from an "innie" to a "flatty." It's stretching wider and is starting to just look flat. Wedding ring: On Movement: Lots of movement! Little flutters that feel like popcorn popping and bubbles. The movement isn't quite strong enough yet for Sam to feel but I can't wait until he can. Sleep: I've slept amazingly well this week. I haven't woken up in the night all week. Let's keep this pattern going, baby! Cravings: chocolate and coffee ice cream Feeling: Energized and excited. I went to yoga a few times this week and went on some walks/hikes. It feels like baby tries to do yoga when I'm doing yoga and then falls asleep after a few minutes. Baby's room is really starting to look like a baby will live there soon and it makes it feel so real! Latest doctor appointment: Tuesday we had an appointment with our midwife and today we had our ultrasound. Appointment went great...I love our midwife. We have the same philosophy on childbirth and she always makes me feel so confident. And we love hearing that little heartbeat! The ultrasound was amazing. We loved seeing baby's heart beating, mouth sucking, clenched little fists and arms in front of the face to hide from us. Baby must be like his/her daddy and not like getting pictures taken. Gender: We aren't finding out if baby is a boy or a girl until he/she is born! We have blue curtains in baby's room (as seen in pictures above) but that is not because we know that baby is a boy... we just like blue! Best moment this week: Seeing baby in the ultrasound. My favorite ultrasound picture shows baby's little clenched fist with just the pointer finger sticking up. We think it means that he/she has an idea. Bumpdate #4: 19 Weeks! Baby is about the size of a mango. How far along: 19 weeks
Weight Gain: Maybe 6 or so pounds. I don't have a scale at home. Maternity clothes: Maternity leggings, bellaband. Still don't fit into maternity jeans. All other regular clothes are fine. Stretch marks: Belly balm every day. I'm going to need more of this stuff soon. Belly button: I can feel it widening. Totally bizarre. Wedding ring: On Movement: Felt like popcorn popping a few times this week! I'm feeling baby move more and more frequently. Sleep: Waking up one or twice a week with heartburn or when baby moves. Not as many naps these days. Cravings: No cravings this week. Feeling: It still feels unreal that we will be meeting our baby in a few months. I can picture playing with the baby when he/she is a little older but I can't imagine how amazing the first moments meeting the baby will be. Best moment this week: Sam finished several home projects this week: the finishing work on our hardwood laminate floors and he painted our kitchen cabinets. We are definitely in nesting mode over here! Our home is looking great and makes us so excited to have a baby to share it with. Bumpdate #3: 18 Weeks! Baby is about the size of a bell pepper. How far along: 18 weeks
Weight Gain: About 5 pounds Maternity clothes: Maternity leggings and bellaband. Regular winter clothes are working well: lots of sweaters and sweater dresses. Not looking forward to having to get a new winter coat in a few months. Stretch marks: Belly balm every day. Belly button: Wider and shallower. It's freaking me out. Wedding ring: On Movement: Tiny taps every once in a while. Sleep: Waking up at 5 am most mornings and wondering if the time is indicative of a future feeding time when the baby is out in the world. Sleeping pretty well though! Cravings: No cravings this week. Feeling: Hungry all the time. More and more excited to meet the baby. Still feels unreal that there is a little person in there! Best moments this week: 1. Snowstorm on Tuesday. This baby is going to love snow I just know it. 2. Long walks on sunny days now that I have more energy. I'm trying to walk/hike every day that the weather allows! Bumpdate #2: 17 Weeks Baby is about the size of a turnip! How far along: 17 weeks Weight Gain: About 4 pounds Maternity clothes: Maternity leggings and bellaband. Regular winter clothes are working well: lots of sweaters and sweater dresses. Stretch marks: Nope. Going strong with Honest belly balm and straight olive oil. Belly button: Growing wider Wedding ring: On Movement: I felt baby move for the first time this week! For a minute or two my tummy felt and looked asymmetrical and kind of bulged on one side and then went back to normal. It was very cool! Sleep: Sleeping much better the last few days. I even slept through the night a few times this week! Also taking afternoon naps most days. Sleeping for two :) Cravings: I hadn't really had any cravings all week until last night I had an extreme pasta craving. Still eating lots of sourdough and clementines. Feeling: Feeling baby move makes the whole thing feel more real but sometimes I still can't believe there is going to be a whole new little person out in the world in a few months. Seeing Sam so excited about the baby also makes me even more excited and in love with both of them. Best moments this week: 1. Feeling baby move for the first time. 2. Weekday breakfast date to No Worries with Sam. One of his coworkers has a baby and told him to make sure we go on lots of dates before baby to take advantage of the last few months of being just the two of us. 3. Buying some snuggly little outfits at Carter's. Owls, raccoons, foxes, moose and bears! Can't wait to dress baby in cozy little outfits. Thing 2 is on the way! Our first baby is due in April and we can't wait. Bumpdate #1: Baby is about the size of an avocado! How far along: 16 weeks, 3 days
Weight Gain: About 4 pounds Maternity clothes: I've been wearing maternity leggings for a few weeks now. Regular sweaters and dresses fit fine. My maternity jeans are still too big so I have been wearing a bellaband with regular jeans. Stretch marks: Nope! Putting belly balm on every morning and night with the hopes that there won't be any! Belly button: Still an "innie" but it's getting bigger! Wedding ring: On Movement: I haven't felt baby move yet but I can sense that baby is moving at about 4 am every morning if that makes sense. Sleep: Baby wakes me up from about 4-6 am every morning (except last night!!) and I often have to get up to grab a snack. This little one must be growing. Cravings: street tacos from Davanzas, Rice Krispies, sourdough bread Feeling: More and more excited every day! I can't wait to be a mom and to see Sam become a dad. I also had a rough first trimester (lots of "all day sickness") and am feeling relieved that is over. I also have a lot more energy than I had during the first trimester. Latest doctor appointment: Last appointment was Tuesday. Heartbeat is going strong and we will probably get an ultrasound at our appointment next month. Everything is looking good: healthy baby, healthy mama. Best moment this week: 1. Sam surprised me with two new rings made by the same artist who made my engagement ring as a "we're going to be parents" present. 2. Announcing our pregnancy on social media and sharing the news with everyone. We had told all our family and close friends over the last two months but it was still exciting to announce it to those who we don't talk to as regularly. And three months later I am finally getting around to blogging about our honeymoon. We were gone almost the whole month of July and here it is October. We started our trip with a flight into Rome and spent one night there. Then we took a series of trains, a ferry, a bus and walking down many, many stairs to get to the little town of Positano on the Amalfi Coast. Positano was absolutely stunning. It has the most perfect beach for swimming and relaxing, delicious food and gorgeous views.
1. If you already live with your fiance, spend the night before your wedding together. Spending the night together will make you feel much more relaxed and comfortable.
2. Eat a delicious brunch with said fiance. Take some time in the morning together to let it sink in that today is your wedding day and make sure you eat something substantial to prepare for the big day! I had trout and eggs...yummm. 3. Pick a small group of your closest friends and family to help you get ready. Too many people (and too many opinions!) can be overwhelming. 4. Do a first look session with your soon-to-be husband or wife. The only time I felt nervous all day was right before our first look session (which I drove myself to haha). As soon as we turned to see each other I felt completely relaxed. 5. Greet your guests before the ceremony. We were both there to greet our guests as they arrived. It was nice knowing I had already said hello to everyone before the ceremony even started and having both bride and groom greet the guests set the laid-back informal tone of our wedding. Seeing everyone beforehand also made the ceremony feel less like a performance and more like a celebration. 6. Pick a song that makes you feel calm to walk down the aisle to. I walked down the aisle to "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles, which has been my favorite song since I was a little kid. It is also one of my dad's favorite songs so walking down the aisle to it together made us both feel calm and happy. 7. Choose an officiant who you both know well. Our good friend's dad is a judge and did an amazing job of officiating our ceremony. We both know him well and felt very comfortable with him as our officiant. 8. Enjoy every moment. No one cares about the exact right shade of pink for your flowers or if your curls hold up perfectly all night. Your guests just want to see you happy. Our wedding day was pure magic. We ate brunch together at the Silver Fork Lodge, put up some simple wedding decorations at the campsite with a few friends and family members, got dressed in our finest (we both wore cowboy boots and my mother made my dress) did first look pictures at the top of Empire Pass, greeted our guests together while serving home brewed beer, exchanged heart-felt vows and spent the evening with our favorite people in the world. Our reception featured BBQ, lots of Beatles songs, playing with a parachute, ribbon wands, line dancing, and s'mores. It was casual, laid-back and completely and totally us.
On Sunday we are off on a 25 day honeymoon to Europe but I wanted to share a few favorite pictures from our wedding on Saturday. Our wedding day could not have been more perfect. Our friends and family came together to make everything possible, the weather was beautiful and the whole day was happy, relaxing and fun. In August we will be back with more wedding pictures, wedding details and many, many pictures from Europe. Until then...
Our wedding is two weeks from tomorrow and we could not be more excited. This beautiful spot in the mountains is where we will be saying our vows and becoming husband and wife.
